Oscoda Trip

Oscoda in February has become a yearly trip for the ladies and me; it’s a late winter escape, trying to get away from the dullness of January.

My favorite feature of this vacation was the ice storm which had passed through just a few days before our arrival. It layered everything with a beautiful glassy sheen, and when the wind blew, the icy branches sang in a chorus of Pop Rocks.

Another favorite is always the Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport, where they house a range of retired, old aircraft. Namely, many 747’s – a magnificent machine, with her glory days behind her.

The rest of the time, we focused on relaxing, reading, and catching the sunrise over the frozen Lake Huron.
